Chocolate Dessert Fondue: 5 Easy Fresh Fruit Dip

  • Author: Lara
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

A quick, easy, and impressive chocolate fondue made with pantry staples that is ready in just 10 minutes. Perfect for dipping fresh fruit, pretzels, and other snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 12 tablespoons liqueur or spirits (optional, e.g., Grand Marnier, Kahlúa, bourbon)
  • Fresh strawberries, washed, hulled, and dried thoroughly
  • Banana slices
  • Apple slices (Granny Smith recommended)
  • Mini pretzels or pretzel rods
  • Large marshmallows
  • Orange segments

Instructions

  1. Prep all fruit and dippers by washing, slicing, and drying them thoroughly. Arrange on plates. Ensure everything is completely dry to prevent the chocolate from seizing.
  2. Place chocolate chips in a small, heavy-bottomed saucepan over low heat. Stir constantly with a whisk or spatula until mostly melted (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and add the butter while keeping the heat on low. Stir gently but continuously until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract, salt, and optional liqueur. Taste and adjust sweetness or saltiness if desired.
  5. Transfer the fondue to a serving bowl or keep in the saucepan. Serve immediately while warm, allowing guests to dip their chosen items.

Notes

Water is the enemy of chocolate; ensure all equipment and fruit are completely dry to prevent seizing. Use high-quality chocolate chips for best melting results. If the fondue thickens too much as it cools, stir in a teaspoon of warm cream to thin it out. Do not freeze, as the texture may separate.
