Description
A simple, make-ahead autumn punch that combines apple cider, apple juice, and warm spices for a festive, customizable drink perfect for parties or cozy nights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 gallon (3.8 liters) apple cider
- 2 cups (480ml) apple juice
- 1 cup (240ml) spiced rum (optional)
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 medium apples, sliced thinly (for garnish)
- 4–5 cinnamon sticks (for garnish)
- 1 orange, sliced (for garnish)
- Ice cubes or frozen fruit ice cubes
Instructions
- Slice apples and oranges. Toss apple slices with a little lemon juice to prevent browning if not serving immediately.
- Pour the gallon of apple cider and apple juice into a large punch bowl and stir gently to combine.
- Sprinkle ground cinnamon and ground nutmeg evenly over the surface of the punch.
- Whisk or stir vigorously for about 30 seconds to ensure spices are fully dissolved and distributed.
- If using, pour in the spiced rum and stir to combine.
- Add sliced apples, orange slices, and cinnamon sticks to the bowl.
- Let the punch sit for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to infuse, or refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
- Stir gently before serving and ladle into glasses, ensuring each serving includes some fruit and spices.
Notes
This punch can be made up to 24 hours in advance; the flavors meld and improve overnight. If the punch is too sweet, add a splash of lemon juice or water. If too strong, add more apple juice. For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the rum. To keep the punch cold without dilution, use frozen fruit ice cubes instead of regular ice.
