Golden Maple Dessert Blondies: 5-Ingredient Pecan Treat

  • Author: Lara
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 16 servings 1x

Description

These chewy, fudgy blondies require only five simple ingredients: butter, flour, maple syrup, egg, and pecans. They are easy to make, pantry-friendly, and perfect for an afternoon snack or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (160g) pure maple syrup
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (100g) chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoon extra maple syrup (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides, and lightly grease with butter spray.
  2. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl or small saucepan. Let it cool slightly so it is liquid but not hot.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk the melted butter and pure maple syrup until emulsified. Add the egg and salt, whisking vigorously until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  4. Add the all-purpose flour to the wet mixture. Stir with a spatula or wooden spoon until just combined. The dough should be thick and sticky.
  5. Stir in the chopped pecans, reserving a small handful for the top if desired.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Drizzle the extra tablespoon of maple syrup over the top and swirl slightly with a knife.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and slightly pulling away from the pan. The center may look soft but will firm up as it cools.
  8. Let the blondies cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes. Lift out using the parchment overhang, transfer to a cutting board, and cut into squares.

Notes

Toast pecans in a dry skillet for 3-5 minutes for enhanced flavor. Do not overbake; blondies continue to cook in the pan after removal. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. For a gluten-free version, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend. For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with dairy-free butter sticks or coconut oil.
