Description
A festive, make-ahead peach sangria that is perfect for Labor Day parties. It combines crisp white wine, ripe fresh peaches, citrus, and a touch of liqueur for a refreshing summer cocktail that feeds a crowd.
Ingredients
- 1 bottle (750ml) crisp dry white wine (Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
- 1/2 cup (120ml) brandy or Triple Sec
- 1/4 cup (60ml) peach liqueur
- 4–5 medium fresh ripe peaches (about 1.5 lbs), pitted and sliced into wedges
- 2 medium oranges (blood oranges or navel), sliced into thin rounds
- 1 medium lemon, sliced into rounds
- 1/2 cup (120ml) simple syrup (or granulated sugar)
- 2–3 bottles (750ml each) sparkling water or lemon-lime soda
- 1 large bunch fresh mint (10–12 sprigs)
- Ice for serving
Instructions
- Wash the peaches, oranges, and lemon. Pit the peaches and slice them into thin wedges. Slice the oranges and lemon into thin rounds.
- In a medium bowl, toss the peach wedges with half of the simple syrup. Let them sit for 10-15 minutes to macerate and release juices.
- In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the white wine, brandy (or Triple Sec), peach liqueur, and the remaining simple syrup. Stir well.
- Add the macerated peaches (including their juices) to the pitcher. Add the orange and lemon slices. Stir gently.
- Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, ideally overnight, to allow flavors to meld.
- About 30 minutes before serving, remove the pitcher from the fridge. Add the sparkling water or lemon-lime soda and stir gently.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or strength if needed.
- Add fresh mint leaves and gently press them to release aroma.
- Serve over ice in glasses, ensuring each serving includes fruit and citrus slices.
Notes
Use ripe peaches for the best flavor. The sangria tastes better when made ahead and chilled overnight. Add sparkling water or soda only right before serving to maintain carbonation. If using canned peaches, rinse them well and reduce the simple syrup. For a non-alcoholic version, substitute wine with white grape juice and brandy with peach nectar.
