Description
A cozy, five-minute winter cocktail featuring bourbon, thick caramel sauce, heavy cream, and flaky sea salt. It offers a perfect balance of sweet, salty, and boozy flavors.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ounces bourbon (or mid-range whiskey)
- 1.5 tablespoons thick caramel sauce
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream
- Ice (large cubes preferred)
- Flaky sea salt (for garnish)
Instructions
- Chill an Old Fashioned glass in the freezer for 10 minutes or fill with ice water while prepping.
- Swirl 1.5 tablespoons of thick caramel sauce around the inside of the chilled glass to coat the sides.
- Pour 2 ounces of bourbon into the glass over the caramel.
- Fill the glass with ice, leaving room for the cream.
- Slowly pour 1 tablespoon of heavy cream over the back of a spoon so it floats on top of the whiskey mixture.
- Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over the cream.
- Serve immediately, sipping the cream first or stirring gently to combine.
Notes
Use thick, scoopable caramel sauce, not thin syrup. Heavy cream is essential for the proper texture; do not substitute with milk or half-and-half. For a non-alcoholic version, substitute with caramel-flavored coffee. The drink is best made fresh, but the whiskey and caramel mixture can be pre-mixed and refrigerated.
